Its running into something that it doesn't know how to address so it just stalls. But, the fact that HitFilm is the only piece of software that has been affected by this problem still suggests a potential event handling issue in the Hitfilm code. I think I'll also take the PC to a repair shop for some analysis that is outside my pay grade. I'll send a link to this thread to Support, as requested above by Ben Norris.
This computer should be powerful enough to handle 4k all day long, so its frustrating to see it fail on 720p exports that any Walmart computer could handle. But last night it crashed on a 720p export. For a while I could save to a lesser output (720p) and it wouldn't crash. I am not adding music for the test, just a straight combine and render operation. I'm not adding any hitfilm magic, just concatenating the 3 videos into one, saving in the same format. It is just three 10 minute long GoPro clips recorded at 60fps 1920x1080. Maybe I have a weird setting in Hitfilm? Any recommendations will be appreciated Other editors tested are : Filmora free, Davinci Resolve, Openshot and Shotcut. I typically am exporting at 1920 x 1080p or 60fps, h264 MP4. The computer itself appears to be on (lights inside the cabinet are on) but the video goes off, and nothing I've tried to bring it back has helped. Recently when trying to render video that is more than a few minutes long, my computer has started freezing during the export process.
